Metals parts running through a deburring machine
Mack Molding’s Sheet Metal Fabrication Department has taken a major step forward in precision finishing with the addition of a new VibeTech Deburring Machine at its headquarters. This state-of-the-art equipment is replacing an older, outdated system and is already delivering significant efficiency gains, improved safety, and higher-quality finishes for our customers.

Why Deburring Matters

When sheet metal parts are laser cut or punched, a natural byproduct of the process is an inherent burr—a sharp edge that not only affects cosmetics but also poses a safety risk. Deburring is a critical downstream process that smooths and softens edges to ensure:

  • Operator safety – Eliminating sharp edges that could cause injuries
  • Cosmetic improvements – Creating a smooth, high-quality finish
  • Optimized downstream processes – Preparing parts for additional treatments like graining or sandblasting

The new VibeTech VTHT vibratory deburring system streamlines this process, making it faster, safer, and more efficient.

Cutting Edge Technology, Cutting Cycle Times

The VibeTech system works by vibrating high-RPM ceramic media to tumble parts and remove burrs efficiently. The machine holds two tons of 8mm porcelain ceramic spheres, which are highly durable and versatile across different materials. This wet deburring system also uses water as a cleaning and burnishing agent, ensuring a flawless finish on every part.

With its six-bay modular design, the machine allows Mack to process multiple parts—or multiple different parts—simultaneously, making it even more versatile for high-mix production.

Efficiency Gains: 30% Faster on Average

One of the biggest advantages of this new system is speed. On average, it provides a 30% efficiency gain, with some parts seeing up to 50% faster cycle times. For example, stainless steel orthopedic cases that previously required eight minutes for deburring now take just four minutes—all without compromising quality. This efficiency means faster turnaround times for customers and increased capacity for production.

Medical-Grade Precision

With 65% of our sheet metal production supporting the medical industry, deburring quality is critical. A single rough edge could compromise the sterility of an operating room by tearing a glove or gown—a risk that cannot be taken in medical manufacturing. The VibeTech machine ensures precision edge finishing, meeting the highest standards for medical devices.

A Smarter, Quieter, More Advanced System

Beyond speed, this new system brings a host of modern upgrades, including:

  • Automatic oiling and greasing for improved maintenance
  • A deeper tub for processing larger parts
  • Lower decibel levels, creating a quieter, more comfortable work environment

And, just like our Mack-made parts, the VibeTech VTHT is proudly made in the USA.

Bringing It All In-House

If Mack didn’t have this deburring technology in-house, we would need to outsource this sheet metal fabrication process, adding time and cost to production. Instead, by integrating this process seamlessly into our workflow, we eliminate delays and create a smoother, more efficient operation for our customers.

With the addition of the VibeTech Deburring Machine, Mack Molding continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technology—enhancing precision, efficiency, and quality to deliver the best possible products to our customers.
