According to E-Z-GO, the world’s leading manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, the Ideal Supplier provides:
- on-time delivery
- excellent quality
- reasonable prices
- flexibility
- technical ideas
- customer focus, and
- continuous improvement.
And at its annual Supplier Conference held recently, E-Z-GO chose Mack Molding from about 30 key suppliers to receive its first Ideal Supplier Award.
“It was a great feeling when E-Z-GO acknowledged all the hard work we’ve put into their projects over the last 10-12 years,” says Steve Butler, business unit director, Mack’s southern division.
Mack has been working with E-Z-GO for about 15 years, with the last three focused on the RXV, E-Z-GO’s recently launched golf car.
Billed by the company as a ‘game changer’ for both course operators and golfers, the RXV boasts numerous innovations, including energy transfer bumpers that minimize damage by absorbing and transferring energy from impacts into the frame rather than into the engine or components.
Mack molds virtually all of the plastic on the new car, including the hip restraints, seat back cover, instrument panel and trim, front and rear body covers, and floorboard. The materials are primarily polypropylenes for weather resistance, UV stability and cost.
“E-Z-GO involved us early in the project so we could help with part design for moldability,” adds Butler. “We’ve been in the trenches with them on this project from part design, through prototyping, molding and even some mechanical assembly. I think we’re as proud of the new E-Z-GO RXV golf car as they are!”
Unveiled in late 2007, the E-Z-GO RXV “sets a new standard for the golf car industry,” says Jack Nicklaus, renowned golfer and course designer. “The RXV takes the golf car to a whole new level,” adds golf legend Arnold Palmer.
