FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ARLINGTON, Vt. – Mack Molding Co. has appointed John Zuk to serve as director of its Application Development Center (ADC), further enhancing its advanced engineering and product development services for customers, it was announced today by Sales & Engineering VP Joan Magrath.
“Customers are looking to strategic suppliers like Mack to be more involved in the early stages of product development,” says Magrath. “John’s role is critical as he heads up Mack’s advanced engineering group, which provides engineering analysis and product design support, as well as a global supply chain that offers low-cost, quick-turn, high quality tooling options.”
Zuk joined Mack Molding in 1974 after earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. During his 34-year stint with the company, he has served Mack’s customers from both a sales and technical standpoint, working in program and business unit management on one hand, and part and tool design and application development on the other.
As ADC director, Zuk seeks to shorten time-to-market for Mack’s customers and expand the ADC’s customer interface role. “From a technical perspective, it is the ADC’s responsibility to identify and implement best manufacturing practices for both plastic and metal, as we offer both services in-house,” explains Zuk. “Does the design meet the part’s requirements? What is the best tool design for both processability and cost-effectiveness? What is the best material for the part? The technical solution must fully explore and resolve each of these questions,” says Zuk.
“But our job doesn’t begin and end there,” he adds. “Even before a project hits our desks, we must be able to interface with prospective customers and help close sales opportunities through technical solutions. In that way, we can add significant value for both our sales staff and customers.”
Adds New Engineer
Wayne Hilliard has joined Zuk’s staff as a tool development engineer. Another industry veteran, Hilliard brings 30 years of tool making and design experience to the department, half of which was gained at Mack Molding. A Vermont native, he graduated from the four-year Vermont State Tool Maker Apprenticeship Program, and has since worked as tool maker/designer for several New England companies in addition to Mack.
